Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The transfer of a substance from the water phase to the gas phase can be estimated by means of the Henry’s Law Constant (HLC). No measured value for this parameter is available. The HLC can be estimated from the ratio of the vapour pressure to the water solubility.

HLC= (VP*MW) / WS

Volatilisation from water is not relevant for triethoxy(methyl)silane due to its rapid hydrolysis in contact with water (calculated half-life of 5.5 hours).

The calculated HLC value for methylsilanetriolat environmental temperature (12 °C) is low, 2.3 E-06 Pa m3mol-1(taken from EUSES 2.1.1).

The HLC for ethanol at environmental temperature (15 °C) is low, 0.000252 Pa m3mol-1(SIDS, 2004).
