The water solubility of the O-Diethoxybenzene was determined in compliance with the EC A6 method, OECD guideline No.105 and GLP.The flask method was used for the test.
A preliminary test was performed to determine the mass of sample and the necessary time to achieve saturation of the test item in water. With this information, an approximate solubility of the test item in water has been calculated (50 mg/L). As specified in the guideline, for the main test this concentration was multiplied by five. The test item solutions would be prepared at a concentration of 250 mg/L, but they were not saturated at this one (the estimation of the preliminary test was not good). So the main test was performed with a concentration of the test item in water of 1500 mg/L.
The solutions were equilibrated at 20°C and removed from the water-bath after 72, 96 and 120 hours instead of 24, 48 and 72 hours. This deviation does not have any effect on the study. The mass concentration of the test item in the aqueous solution was determined by HPLC with a UV detector. The solubility of O-Diethoxybenzene in water at 20 ±1°C is equal to 646 mg/L.
