Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
viscosity
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Test Guideline 114 (Viscosity of Liquids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
rotational viscometer (dynamic)
Key result
Temp.:
20°C
Parameter:
dynamic viscosity (in mPa s)
Value:
ca. 10 000 - ca. 90 000
Remarks on result:
other: dependent on shear rate
Temp.:
40°C
Parameter:
dynamic viscosity (in mPa s)
Value:
200
Remarks on result:
other: independent of shear rate

At 20 °C, the test material shows a significant decrease in viscosity with increasing spindle speed (shear rate), while at 40 °C there is insignificant change in viscosity with shear rate (see Tables 1 and 2).

Description of key information

10000-90000 mPa.s at 20°C and 200 mPa.s at 40°C (OECD 114)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Viscosity was dependent on shear rate at 20 °C and independent at 40°C.
