Description of key information

Vanadium carbide nitride is not explosive.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Vanadium carbide nitride is considered to be “inert” in the context of explosivity since it is void of any chemical structures commonly associated with explosive properties, such as metal peroxides, peroxo-acid-anions, azides, and halogen oxides. Further, it is noted that despite long-term industrial use of vanadium carbide nitride, it is not classified for explosive properties according to UN transport regulations (in accordance with Regulation No (EC) 1907/2006, Annex XI, Section 1). Furthermore, long-term industrial experience in practical handling of vanadium carbide nitride shows that it is not explosive.
