Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Additional information

Granulometry (Vametco, 2011)

A representative test material of vanadium carbide nitride has a typical distribution that 99.9% of particles are in the size range of 19-50 mm.

Dustiness (Parr & Grewe, 2012)

Total Dustiness (airborne fraction after abrasion pre-test): 7.01 g

Mass median aerodynamic diameters (bi-modal distribution) of airborne fraction after abrasion pre-test: MMAD1 = 16.89 µm (19.0%) , MMAD2 = 34.92 µm (81.0%) (distribution fitted to cascade impactor data, percentile in parentheses indicates weighting factor).

Geometric standard deviation of MMAD: GSD1 = 1.10, GSD 2 = 4.39.

Fractional deposition in human respiratory tract (MPPD model, based on calculated MMAD) of material after abrasion pre-test:

Head (ET): 51.57 %

Tracheobronchial (TB): 0.41%

Pulmonary (PU): 0.57%

In sum, vanadium carbide nitride is of low dustiness and manufactured and placed on the market only in briquette form.
