Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the Density study (required in section 7.4) does not need to be conducted as the substance is a gas.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The density of the substance has been estimated by calculation based on its molecular weight and the Ideal Gas Laws. At 20°C and 101,300 Pa, the volume of 1 mole of an Ideal Gas is: nRT / P = 0.0241 m3 (where n is 1 mole; R is the gas constant, 8.314 J/K/mol; T is the temperature, 293.15 K; and P is the pressure, 101,300 Pa) The molecular weight of chloro(methyl)silane is 80.59 g/mol. Therefore, the density is 80.59 / 0.0241 = 3343.98 g/m3 = 3.34 kg/m3
