A study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of test substance to rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) under static conditions. The study was conducted in accordance with EU Method C.1.
Groups of ten fish were exposed to a limit test concentration of nominally 100 mg/L of test substance dissolved in fresh water. Daily measurements were undertaken throughout the 96 h period for pH, dissolved oxygen and temperature in the test vessels. The hardness and conductivity in the water supply used for the experiments was measured on the day that the test vessels were filled. Analysis was performed for the test concentration was measured at the start, and end of the 96 h exposure period. Observations were made on the number of dead fish and for the visible effects on appearance and behaviour of fish after 24, 48, 72 and 96 h of exposure
The LC50 values obtained were >100 mg/L for 24, 48, 72 and 96 h exposure period. The values obtained were based on the nominal concentrations of test substance. The mean measured concentration of the test material was 99% of the nominal value.
