Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

For this endpoint, the read across between PWH/ammonium and PWH/sodium salt is valid, because this environmental property is defined by the main component. The read across justification that takes into account the ammonium ion properties is attached on section 13 of the dossier.

The test item Paraffin waxes and Hydrocarbon waxes, chloro, sulfochlorinated, saponified, has showed to be not ready biodegradable under the conditions applied in a Manometric Respirometry test, having not reached the pass level (60% biodegradation) during the 10-days window, but showing a maximum value of degradation of 48.6%. The biodegradation of test item, however, exceeded the pass level after 19 days from test start reaching a maximum biodegradation value of 88.8% at the end of test period (mean values between two replicates).

Being an UVCB substance, following Regulation 286/2011 (emending the regulation 1272/2008 for the purposes of its adaptation to technical and scientific progress), point part c, the 10-day window condition may be waived and the pass level applied at 28 days Moreover, the test item showed no inhibitory effects on the microorganism activity at the tested concentration, as demonstrated by the 25% of biodegradation exceeded in the toxicity control at the third day of test period.
