Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance exhibits an estimated fish BCF of 855.7 L/kg (geometric mean of three QSAR results). Calculations were made for the main constituent with the highest log Kow i.e. alpha pinene.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
855.7 L/kg ww

Additional information

The substance is a UVCB composed of several main constituents for which Log Kow values are available. For the purpose of the bioaccumulation assessment, a constituent approach was followed by selecting a key constituent which data will be used for the chemical safety assessment. Among the main constituents, alpha pinene exhibits the highest log Kow (4.46) and therefore was used as worst case to predict the BCF key value for the chemical safety assessment.

Three QSAR estimations were performed :

- Regression-based estimate, BCFBAF v3.01

- Arnot-Gobas lower trophic level (including biotransformation), BCFBAF v3.01

- TGD (2003) part. II, eq. (74)

The output of calculations are shown here below:

-Regression-based estimate (BCF-BAF v3.01): BCF = 407.1 L/kg

-Arnot-Gobas lower trophic level (BCF-BAF v3.01): BCF = 1248.0L/kg

-TGD (2003): BCF = 1233.1 L/kg

For the purposes of defining a key value for chemical safety assessment, an equivalent weight was given for each BCF estimation and the geometric mean was used to determine a representative BCF value:

-BCFgeom.mean = 855.7 L/kg
