Administrative data

First-aid measures

Inhalation: Bring the person into the fresh air, rest and consult a doctor

Oral ingestion: Rinse mouth (spit out!), and consult a doctor if necessary

Dermal: Remove contaminated clothing, wash immediately with water and soap

Eyes: Rinse for 15 minutes with water, consult an ophthalmologist

General:Get medical advice as quickly as possible in the case of a serious or lasting dysfunction.

Fine powders and/or soluble compounds of As, Pb … have hazardous properties with delayed effects following inhalation and oral intake.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: No special recommendation (taking account of environment polluting extinguishing water)

Extinguishers that cannot be used: None, preferably no water

Special exposure dangers: No

Special protective equipment for Fire Brigade personnel: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Respirable dust.

Advice for firefighters: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing and gloves must be worn in case of fire. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated fire fighting media in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautionary measures: Avoid inhalation of the dust and/or fumes. Wear suitable clothing, breathing protection (P2 filter) and face protection.

Environmental protection measures: Take action to prevent the substance from ending up in drainage pipes, surface water and the soil.

Cleaning methods: Seal off and cover spilt product (sand)

Material for containment:No data

Methods for cleaning up:Ventilate the area thoroughly.

Restrict the area to those persons wearing respiratory protection. Do not allow unprotected people into the area until cleanup has been completed.

Allow spilled material to solidify and scrape up with shovels into a suitable container for recycle or disposal as hazardous waste.

Collect dust, particulates, powders using a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter. Place in a suitable container for recycling or disposal as hazardous waste

DO NOT empty into drains or waterways.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid swallowing or inhaling the dust or smoke. Avoid activities that create dust or smoke. Provide good ventilation to keep the concentration in the air below the limits. Procedural and control technologies are used to minimise emission and any resulting exposure (when handling the substance, during cleaning and maintenance works and in case of accident). All procedures are well documented and supervised by the site operator.

Only properly trained and authorised personnel may handle the substance.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Requirements to be met by storerooms and containers:Store away from incompatible materials. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, avoiding contact with heat and strong acids.

Exposure controls

Technical protection measures:Local exhaust ventilation with enclosure and general ventilation are required in case of emission of dust/aerosol in air. Suction nozzles of local ventilation should be located at or below work level. Air outtakes of general ventilation should be located at the top of the room and air intakes should be located at the bottom of the room.

Personal Protection:Avoid direct contact with the material. If the concentration level is determined and known, select appropriate personal protection measures taking into account the concentration at the given workplace, exposure length and works performed by the given employee as well as the instructions provided by the producer of the personal protection equipment.

Eye/face protection:Protective goggles (EN 166).

Skin protection:Protective clothing (EN 347, EN 340).

Body /hand protection:Work gloves against dust (EN 388).

Respiratory protection:With dust or fume formation: P3-mask (EN 149).

Personal hygiene:Wash hands thoroughly after work to prevent oral ingestion. Do not eat, drink or smoke in the workplace.

Environmental exposure controls:Take action to prevent the substance from getting into drainage pipes, surface water and the soil.

Stability and reactivity

The product is stable and unreactive in normal circumstances.
