Specific details on test material used for the study:
SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Lot/batch No.of test material: 0000000555
Key result
Water solubility:
569 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
ca. 7
Details on results:
The concentrations of the test item measured in at least the two last vessels do not differ by more than ± 15 % and there is no trend in the values, thus the test is satisfactory. The relative standard deviation (repeatability) of the concentrations in all six samples was smaller than 15 % and the three duplicate sets of samples showed no tendency of increasing concentration values. Thus the test could be regarded as valid.
Conclusions:
In conclusion, the water solubility of lithium chloride was determined to be 569 g/L at 20 ± 0.5 °C using the shake-flask method for the performance of the main test.
Executive summary:

The water solubility of lithium chloride was determined by a study according to EU Method A.6 and OECD Guideline 105. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the solubility of lithium chloride in water at 20 ± 0.5 °C. The water solubility of Lithium chloride was found to be 569 g/L at 20 ± 0.5 °C using the shakeflask method for the performance of the main test.

Description of key information

The water solubility of lithium chloride was determined to be 569 g/L at 20 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
569 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The water solubility of lithium chloride was determined by a study according to EU Method A.6 and OECD Guideline 105 to be 569 g/L at 20 °C. Similar results are also reported in one review article. According to some hand book data the water solubility of lithium chloride (purity not indicated) is significantly higher than 569 g/L. A possible explanation for the higher water solubility is the water content, resulting in an increased water solubility.
