Description of key information

No data are available for hydrazine mono-nitrate as data have been waived due to the existance of classifications. Data are available for the acute inhalation and dermal toxicity of hydrazine, indicating that it is acutely toxic via this route. Data are also available for the acute oral toxicity of hydrazine hydrate, indicating that it is of low acute toxicity via this route.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Acute toxicity: via oral route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Value:
83 mg/kg bw

Acute toxicity: via inhalation route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Value:
750 mg/m³

Acute toxicity: via dermal route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Value:
91 mg/kg bw

Additional information

A dermal LD50 of 91 mg/kg bw has been identified for hydrazine in rats, and an oral LD50 of 83 mg/kg bw has been identified for hydrazine hydrate in mice. An inhalation LC50 of 750 mg/m³ has been identified in rats for hydrazine hydrate (source unsubstantiated).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Hydrazine mono-nitrate is classifiable as T; R23/24/25 Toxic; Toxic by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. under the DSD (Directive 67/548/EEC), or Acute tox 3 for oral, dermal and inhalation routes (modifiable) under CLP (Regulation 1272/2008) as per listing for 007-014-00-6 for Hydrazine Salts (group). Hydrazine Mono Nitrate is part of this group (CAS 13464-97-6).
