Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
13 December 2018 to 28 January 2019
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
Date of Inspection: 21 August 2018 Date on Certificate: 19 November 2018
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

The pile melted and emitted some grey fumes but failed to ignite during the 2 minutes that the Bunsen flame was applied.

The results of the preliminary screening test obviated the need to perform the main test.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item is determined to be not highly flammable as it failed to ignite in the preliminary screening test.
Executive summary:

The test item was determined to be not highly flammable, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.10 Flammability (Solids) of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Description of key information

Not highly flammable; EU A.10; Tremain S P (2019)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

In the preliminary screening test, the test item failed to ignite during the 2 minutes that the Bunsen flame was applied.
