Additional information
An algal growth inhibition study was conducted (Mitsubishi Chemical Medience Corporation, 2014, Study A130913) to determine the effect of 2-(Allyloxymethyl) acrylic acid methyl ester on the growth of Selenastrum Capricornutum (new name Pseudokirchnerella Subcapitata). The study was conducted according to OECD test guideline 201 and in compliance with GLP.
Triplicate algal cultures were exposed to 2-(Allyloxymethyl) acrylic acid methyl ester at concentrations 0.5, 1.1, 2.4, 5.3, 12.0 and 26 mg/L and incubated under continuous illumination for 72 hours. Six replicate control cultures were also incubated concurrently with the test samples.
Biomass was not affected by treatment with 2-(Allyloxymethyl) acrylic acid methyl ester at the lower concentration groups 0.5 and 1.1 mg/L), so the No Observed Effect level in terms of growth rate was 2.33 mg/L.
The growth inhibition of algae after exposure to 2-(Allyloxymethyl) acrylic acid methyl ester was observed at the higher concentration groups (5.3, 12.0 and 26.0 mg/L).The EC50 in terms of growth rate was found to be 8.72 mg/L.
