Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid having a melting point <= 160°C
Justification for type of information:
The study on the self-ignition temperature of a test item does not have to be conducted if the melting temperature is below 160°C. During the melting and boiling temperature study, a glass transition was observed at -51.4°C. Furthermore, at 100°C, it was observed that the viscosity of the test item was too low to keep the test item in the test cube. Therefore, performance of the self-ignition temperature study was technically not possible and the study was not performed (CRL 2018).

Description of key information

A self-ignition test for naphthenic acids, zinc salts is not required because the melting point is ≤160°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
