Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation potential of activated sludge is not anticipated when is introduced in appropriately low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The assessment of the toxicity to microorganisms is derived on the available data from an inhibition control of a DOC-die-away test conducted according to EU method C.4-A (see also Section 5.2).

The results of the key study in Section 5.2 indicate that

a) The substance is not readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria),

b) inhibitory effects of the substance to sewage sludge bacteria were not observed at the tested concentration 78 mg/L, and

c) the inhibition of the degradation potential of activated sludge is not anticipated when the substance is introduced in appropriately low concentrations.
