Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From June 26, 2008 to August 19, 2008
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: The EU method was followed. Based on the molecular structure a statement rather than a full study was considered sufficient to cover this endpoint.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.21 (Oxidising Properties (Liquids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Parameter:
preliminary test
Remarks on result:
not measured/tested

Examination of the structure of the test substance establishes beyond reasonable doubt that the substance is incapable of showing a positive result in the test described in the EC A.21 guideline. The substance does not contain any group that might act as an oxidizing agent. The oxygen atom that is present in the chemical is bonded to carbon, which indicates that the molecule is oxygen-deficient. The impurities, present for =< 3% in the test substance, were not taken into account but it is not to be expected that these have any influence (these are related compounds to the structure of the test substance). It is not to be expected that an interaction between the different components occur.

Interpretation of results:
other: no oxidising properties
Conclusions:
Under the study conditions, the test substance does not contain any group that might act as an oxidizing agent.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the oxidizing properties of the test substance according to EU Method A.2. Under the study conditions, the test substance does not contain any group that might act as an oxidizing agent (Baltussen, 2008).

Description of key information

The oxidizing properties were determined according to EU Method A.21 (Baltussen, 2008).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no
