Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2016-12-15
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
no

Type of method:

Key result
Water solubility:
< 0.01 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
ca. 7
Details on results:
Based on the analytical monitoring of DABT by LC/MS/MS, approximately 50% of the test item CuDABT was found in 3 aqueous media, after 2 weeks, with very little changes in concentration beyond this time point.
Therefore, an apparent water solubility of approximately 250 mg/L can be considered for CuDABT.
A change in color in the CuDABT solutions was observed over time, from blue to lighter blue with milky appearance.
It is important to note that the analytical monitoring of dissolved copper by ICP/OES did not follow this trend, with very little dissolved copper found in MilliQ water and ecotoxicological assay media.
Based on dissolved copper analysis, less than 1.3% of CuDABT was dissolved in MilliQ water, and less than 0.1% CuDABT was dissolved in the other ecotoxicological assay media.
Based on this assay, CuDABT water solubility is defined as < 0,01g/L.
This result is totally inconsistent with the previous determination, based on the analytical monitoring of DABT. It is however consistent with results obtained based on analytical monitoring of dissolved copper.
Conclusions:
CuDABT water solubility is defined as < 0,01g/L.
Executive summary:

CuDABT water solubility is defined as < 0,01g/L.
