Description of key information

For Vertoliff a 96-hour acute fish toxicity test was performed with rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Method: The study was carried out with semi-static and non-aerated exposure according to OECD TG 203 and encompassed 6 treatment groups (5 dose rates of the test item and a control) each containing 7 individuals. The test media were not aerated during the test in order to minimize evaporation of the test item from the test vessels. Test Concentrations: 60, 19, 6, 1.9 and 0.6 mg test item/L (spacing factor 3.16) and a control. Results: The concentrations correspond to following time weighted average concentrations of the test item: 53.0, 15.7, 4.72, 1.38 and 0.432 mg test item/L, which was on average 77% of the nominal. Lethality was 100 and 71% in the 53 and 15.7 mg/l after 24h and was 100% after 48h also in the 15.7 mg/l concentration. No mortality was seen in the lower concentrations. The LC50 is 8.6 mg/l.
