DSC curves of the experiments: see picture below.
Endothermic between 100°C and 300°C were observed; most likely due to evaporation and reaction and/or decomposition of the test item.
Exothermic decomposition started at 350°C. The extrapolated onset temperature of the effect was 362.494°C (first experiment) and 365.066°C (second experiment)
The exothermic decomposition energy was 159.31 J/g (first experiment) and 157.15 J/g (second experiment).
Mean (n=2) exothermic decomposition energy: 158 J/g.
Mean (n=2) onset temperature: 363.8C.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Interpretation of results:
- other: not classified under CLP or GHS
- Conclusions:
- The substance has no explosive properties.
- Executive summary:
The exothermic decomposition energy and onset of exothermic decomposition of the substance was determined by DSC in a GLP study. From duplicate measurements the onset of exothermic decomposition was determined to be 368.8°C and the exothermic decomposition energy was determined to be 158 J/g. Because the exothermic decomposition energy is < 500 J/g, the Class 1 acceptance procedure for the hazard "explosives" does not need to be applied. The substance has no explosive properties.
