Sampling and analysis

Analytical monitoring:
no
Remarks:
There was no analysis of the test compund during this test as a test method was unavailable at the time of the study.

Test solutions

Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
The stock solution used in this study was prepared by dispersing 0.1 g test substance in 1 liter Elendt M7 medium using ultrasonication making a 100 mg/L stock. Test solutions were prepared by adding known volumes of stock to 500ml Elendt medium.

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
Daphnia magna
Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM
- Source: laboratory culture
- Age at study initiation (mean and range, SD): < 24 hrs old
- Method of breeding: Cultures are reset using 10 neonates, when they become gravid their numbers are reduced from 10 to 5 and the production of neonates results in their daily removal. Cultures were maintained in a synthetic medium with the same chemical composition and similar pH and dissolved oxygen concentration as that used to prepare test solutions. Culture medium consists of 800 mL Elendt M7 medium. The cultures are fed daily with cells of the green algae Chlorella vulgaris.
- Feeding during test: no

Any other information on results incl. tables

Validity criteria:

- in the control, no immobile daphnia were observed.

- the dissolved oxygen concentration at the end of the test was between 7.5 and 8.0 (and thus > 60% of the air saturation value at the temperature used).

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The acute toxicity of the test substance to Daphnia magna was tested according to OECD 202 and in compliance with GLP. The test was conducted under static renewal conditions with test medium renewal after 24 hours. The 48 hour EC50 was > 18 mg/L based on nominal concentrations.
