Any other information on results incl. tables
During the measurements 1 -14, made at 23.53 deg C, a decrease in vapour pressure could be observed. Therefore the sample was evacuated for 10 sec after each measurement. This decrease in vapour pressure was probably caused by the presence of a volatile impurity. Because the sample was re-exposed to a fresh vacuum at the start of each measurement, the most volatile impurity was removed gradually. This impurity was removed after approximately 14 measurements, indicating that the amount of this impurity was relatively low. Therefore the 10 second evacuation step between the measurements was stopped. The vapour pressure became nearly stable, therefore the vapour pressure was considered to show ideal behaviour. When raising the temperature it took some time (a few measurements) before the vapour pressure stabilized. This was probably caused by a bad heat contact within the test substance.
In order to obtain the vapour pressure at each temperature, the resulting vapour pressure readings in each series were averaged. The results were provided in Table 1 of the report.
The resulting values provided were plotted against the reciprocal temperature (1/T) in Kelvin, taking into account the calculated error.
The vapour pressure of Stepan TAB-2 at 25 deg C was interpolated from the vapour pressure curve and determined to be 0.12 Pa with an estimated error of +-0.02 Pa, i.e., (9.0 +-1.1) E-004 mm Hg.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The vapour pressure at 25 deg C of Stepan TAB-2 was determined by the static method to be: 0.12 +- 0.02 Pa or (9.0 +- 1.1) x E-004 mm Hg.
