The substance is composed of acetic anhydride (5-10 wt. %), adipic acid,di-anhydride with bis(acetic acid) (50-62 wt. %) and acetic acid (30-35 wt. %). The physical and chemical properties of the substance arerelated to the properties of acetic anhydride due to several possible side reactions and the hydrolysis of the product. Therefore the surface tension of acetic anhydride (31.93 mN/m at 25 °C) is used as a key value in the CSA.
