Decanoic acid, mixed diesters with octanoic acid and propylene glycol (CAS 68583-51-7) is determined to be readily biodegradable according to the OECD criteria in three confirmatory GLP-Guideline studies. The substance is thus expected to be rapidly degraded by microorganisms in both the aquatic and terrestrial environments as well, and therefore in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, column 2, 9.2.1.2 - 9.2.1.4, further simulation tests testing for water and sediment or soil biodegradation tests are not necessary.
