Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A study is scientifically unjustified, since hydrocarbons, C7, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics has a flash point below 23 °C and a initial boiling point higher than 35°C and therefore meets the criteria of Category 2 for flammability. Upper and Lower flammabilty limits were defined by extrapolation from published data, 0.6 and 7.0 v% respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with REACH Annex XI this study is scientifically unjustified. The flammability of liquids is determined on the basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point), their ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoricity. The molecular structure of the substance does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties and handling of the substance indicates that this is the case. The flashpoint indicates that the substance is a Category 2 - Highly flammable liquid. The substance was placed in this hazard class because it has a flash point below 23°C and a initial boiling point higher than 35°C and therefore meets the criteria of Category 2 for flammability.

Justification for classification or non-classification

A study is scientifically unjustified, since hydrocarbons, C7, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics has a flash point below 23 °C and a initial boiling point higher than 35 °C and therefore meets the criteria of Category 2 for flammability.
