Description of key information

Two short-term toxicity studies with Diphenyl Oxide (DPO or Dipheny Ether) were conducted with Daphnia magna following available guidelines at different laboratories. A quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) model was used to estimate the acute toxicity.

Additional information

One key study was identified that provided acute toxicity test results with Daphnia magna exposed to Diphenyl Oxide (DPO or Diphenyl Ether). This study was rated a Klimisch score of 1 and was considered reliable reporting a 48-hr EC50 value of 1.96 mg/L (95% confidence interval of 1.74 - 2.21 mg/L).

A supporting study was rated a Klimisch score of 1 and was considered reliable reporting a 48-hr LC50 value of 1.7 mg/L.

These results were corroborated by a quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) model (ECOSAR v1.11 by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 2012) estimation which shows the 48-hr LC50 of 1.0 mg/L.
