A study was identified as a Key study (Pelcot, 2010). This study was performed according to theOECD guideline No.429 and in compliance with the GLP. The stimulation index was higher than 3 at 50 and 100 %. The EC3 value for dimethyloctadiene was 41%.

Justification for classification or non-classification

As positive responses were observe din an LLNA assay and an EC3 value of 41% was determined, dimethyloctadiene is classified as skin sensitizer in category 1B (H317: May cause an allergic skin reaction) according to the criteria of the CLP Regulation n° 1272/2008 and as skin sensitizer (Xi, R43: May cause sensitization by skin contact) according to the criteria of the Annex VI of Directive 67/548/EC.
