Description of key information

Skin irritation:
KEY study similar to OECD 404 (KEY_404_1974_Bio-Toxicology-Lab_1974-01-17, reliability: 2): not irritating, not corrosive
NONKEY according to Fed. Reg. (NONKEY_404_1980_BASF_1980-05-23, reliability: not adequate): slightly irritating
Eye irritation:
KEY study according to OECD 405 (KEY_405_1988_Hoechst_88.0123, reliability: 1): not irritating
NONKEY according to Fed. Reg. (NONKEY_405_1980_BASF_1980-05-23, reliability: 3): not irritating

Additional information

Skin irritation

In a reliable key study some rabbits showed slight responses (mean scores erythema abraded 0.3 (2/6)) which were fully reversible within 24h. All other scores were 0. That implies that mean scores for all irritation parameters were below threshold values. Findings of a non-key study were not inconsistent with these data.

Eye irritation

In a reliable key study some rabbits showed slight responses (mean scores conjunctivae redness 0.3 (3/3)) which were fully reversible within 48h. All other scores were 0. That implies that mean scores for all irritation parameters were below threshold values. Findings of a non-key study were not inconsistent with these data.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Available data don't meet criteria for classification and labelling of REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC related to skin corrosion/irritation and to eye irritation. Therefore classification and labelling is not warrantable.
