The purpose of this study according to OECD TG 202 was to estimate the acute toxicity (EC50) of the test item to daphnia (Daphnia magna) under static test conditions. The test was conducted with a nominal concentration of 63, 130, 250, 500 and 1000 mg a.i./L, active ingredient per litre of test solution (mg a.i./L). The mean measured concentrations tested were defined as 61, 140, 260, 500, and 990 mg a.i./L. At test initiation and test termination one sample from each exposure solution and the control was analyzed for test item concentration. All exposure solution and QC samples were analyzed for the test item using a gas chromatographic (GC) procedure. Throughout the exposure period, analytical measurements were consistent between sampling interval and established the expected concentration gradient. Following 48 hours of exposure (test termination), no immobilization or adverse effects were observed among daphnia exposed to the 61 and 140 mg a.i./L treatment levels or the control. Adverse effects (i.e., lethargy) were observed in all of the surviving organisms in the 500 mg a.i./L treatment level and one of the exposed organisms in the 260 mg a.i./L. Immobilization of 35 and 95% was observed in the 500 and 990 mg a.i./L treatment levels, respectively. Based on these results, the 48-hour EC5O was calculated by probit analysis to be 570 mg a.i/L with 95% confidence limits of 490 and 680 mg a.i./L. The No-Observed-Effect Concentration (NOEC) was determined to be 260 mg a.i./L.
