Based on structural similarity (same isomers in a different ratio), no significant difference is anticipated between the mixture of isomers tested and the dossier monoconstituent substance. Based on the chemical structure, the trans-form is regarded to have more orientation potential, therefore also surface-active potential. The study result could therefore be considered as a worst-case for the target substance.

However, a fully reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized OECD/EC method and under GLP, is available on an analogue (mixture of isomers). As the study is expected to be worst-case compared to the present dossier monoconstituent substance, it fits for purpose of assessment of surface-active potential, so the read-across is considered justified for a key study, and the result is retained as key data.
