- Details on test solutions:
- As the solubility lies below 100 mg/L, the water-accommodated fraction was prepared for the test. This was done by weighing the nominal load, adding the corresponding amount of dilution water and shaking vigorously for 24 hours. The resulting solution was filtrated through paper filters.

Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- The following results for the test substance were obtained:
- 48h EC50i >= 100 mg/L - Executive summary:
This study was performed in order to evaluate the toxic potential of the substance towards freshwater shrimp,using the species Daphnia magna. Daphnia magna Straus, which belongs to the family of crustacea, was chosen in accordance to the OECD 202.
As the test item is poorly water soluble, the 'water-accommodated fraction' was used for the test. This was done by weighting the nominal load, adding the corresponding amount of dilution water and shaking vigorously for 24 hours. The resulting solution was filtrated through 0.45 µm filters.
In the main study, 3 concentrations of the test item in a geometric series (spaces by factor 10, the highest being 100 mg/L) were used. 20 daphnia were exposed to the test item for 48 hours in a static test system. After 24 and 48 hours, the immobilised daphnia were counted.
No significant immobilisation was observed in the treatments and in the control.
The 24hEC50i of potassium dichromate was tested in a current reference test. The value was determined as 1.4 mg/L, lying within the demanded range of 0.6 -2.1 mg/L.
The following results for the test substance were obtained: - 24h NOEC = 100 mg/L - 48h NOEC = 100 mg/L - 24h EC50i >= 100 mg/L - 48h EC50i >= 100 mg/L
