Non mutagenic.

Additional information

No experimental data on the mutagenic potential of target substance was found in literature.

Structural alerts of target substance were examined by the OECD QSAR Toolbox (v. 4.0.0.26167). In particular:

- DNA alerts for Ames by OASIS v. 1.4: no alert found

- DNA alerts for CA and MNT by OASIS v. 1.1: no alert found

- in vitro mutagenicity alerts (Ames test) by ISS: no alert found

- in vivo mutagenicity alerts (micronucleus) by ISS: Hacceptor-path3-Hacceptor (this alert explores the possibility that a chemical interacts with DNA and/or proteins via non-covalent binding, such as DNA intercalation or groove-binding).

- protein binding alerts for chromosomal aberration by OASIS v. 1.2: AN2 (Michael addition; this alert is raised by the -NH2 groups on the aromatic ring).

The Vega-qsar tool was run on the acid form of the target substance (CAS 88 -63 -1, EC 201 -846 -5), as not applicable to salts. It allowed to exclude a mutagenic potential of the substance in the Ames test. In particular, the structural analogues identified in the Vega database (CAS 121 -57 -3, CAS 88 -44 -8, CAS 88 -45 -9) resulted to be non-mutagen experimentally in the Ames test, except for the analogue with CAS 88 -21 -1, that was positive in the Ames test.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Available information on target substance and structural analogues do not indicate a mutagenic potential. Accordingly, no classififcation within the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008) applies.
