Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The parent was not tested for technical reasons (hydrolytic instability). 72-hr EC50, growth rate, of the hydrolysis product: >100 mg/L (nominal) (OECD 201). 72-hour NOEC, 10 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

C4 fluorinated isonitrile is gas which, to the extent it dissolves in water, is hydrolytically unstable. We have proposed adaptation of the testing requirement for toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria, substituting direct testing of the hydrolysis product. The key study, with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, was conducted as per guideline OECD 201 with analytical confirmation of the tested dose. Since measured concentrations were within 80% of nominal, the results were reported on a nominal concentration basis. The 72-hour EC50 of the heptafluoroisobutyramide hydrolysis product was >100 mg/L, the highest concentration tested. The 72-hour NOEC was 10 mg/L based on a statistically but not biologically significant 6% inhibition of growth rate at 100 mg/L. In a supporting, non-guideline study with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, the 72-hour NOEC (biomass) of the hydrolysis product was 100 mg/L (nominal concentration, highest tested).
