Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Table 1. Results of the preliminary test.

Test number

Time of burning [s]

Comments

Test-1

310

The sample ignited immediately after the ignition. The train burned completely. The combustion was accompanied a large amount of smoke and an orange flame.

Result: NEGATIVE

Test-2

292

Test-3

325

In each test the time burning is longer than 4 minutes (according to the criteria of method A.10) therefore the result of the preliminary test is negative and it is not necessary to go to the next stage of determination (burning rate test).

Interpretation of results:
other: Not classified (CLP Regulation EC no. 1272/2008)
Conclusions:
The tested material is not highly flammable in accordance with EU method A.10. criteria.
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test item was determined according to EU Method A.10 (GLP study). In the preliminary screening test (3 replicates), the substance was formed into an unbroken strip or powder train about 250 mm long by 20 mm wide by 10 mm high on a non-combustible, non-porous and low heat-conducting base plate, and a hot flame was applied to one end of the powder train. Every sample tested ignited immediately after the ignition and the train burned completely. The burning time was longer than 4 min in each replicate. Thus, the result was negative and it was not necessary to conduct the burning rate test. The tested material is not highly flammable.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience exists at the sponsor and the test facility, e.g. when preparing test substance solutions for testing. The test substance in contact with water do not develop any gas at all, therefore is regarded as not being flammable in contact with water.
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience, e.g. in manufacture or handling shows that the substance does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperatures (i.e. the substance is known to be stable at
room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days). The test substance is therefore regarded as not being pyrophoric.

Description of key information

Flammability: Key study. Method according to EU Method A.10, GLP study. The test item is not highly flammable.

Pyrophoric properties: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary / other information available): Practical experience in manufacture and handling shows that the substance does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperatures.
Flammability in contact with water: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary / other information available): The substance is not classified as flammable in contact with water based on the experience in handling / use which shows that the substance does not react with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Flammability in contact with water: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary / other information available): The substance is not classified as flammable in contact with water based on the experience in handling / use which shows that the substance does not react with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available data, the substance is not classified as flammable solid according to CLP Regulation no. 1272/2008.
