Description of key information

The water solubility of 4-Amino-m-cresol was 2.0 g/L at 25°C at the beginning and 1.4 g/L after 48 hours at 25˚C (with a 30% loss due to degradation of test material), measured by flask method (OECD 105).

4-Amino-m-cresol is soluble (1000-10000 mg/L) both at the beginning and after 48 hours.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
2 g/L
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The water solubility of 4-Amino-m-cresol was determined by following the OECD guideline 105 (flask method).

The test material (2 g each) was weighed into three 250 mL conical glass flasks. 100 mL of water analytical grade was added to the flasks containing test material. The flasks were shaken on a mechanical shaker for 15 minutes, then a volume of 20 mL of each water solution was filtered. The filtered sample solutions were analysed by GC/FID using internal standard.

The test sample solutions were analyzed for water solubility at the beginning and after 48 hours at 25˚C.

The water solubility of 4-Amino-m-cresol was 2.0 g/L at 25°C at the beginning, and 1.4 g/L after 48 hours at 25˚C with a 30% loss due to degradation of test material in aqueous media.
