Description of key information

Toxicity to earthworms:

The acute toxicity of the test substance C 17 Acrylate to Eisenia fetida was determined in a 14 days artificial soil test ( ECD Guideline, 207 Earthworm, Acute Toxicity Test). Based on the results of range-finding test, one blank control group, one solvent control group and one treatment group which had four replicates of 10 worms per replicate were included in the limit test. The nominal concentration of the treatment group was1000mg/kg dry artificial soil weight. The number of mortalities were determined after 7 and 14 days exposure. The mortality of the earthworm in the blank control group was7.5%, in the solvent control group was 7.5%, which were not more than 10 per cent, so the test was valid. Under the tested conditions, the 7-Day LC50and the 14-Day LC50for the test substance to earthworms (Eisenia fetida) based on the nominal test concentrations were both higher than 1000mg/kg dry soil weight.
