Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria
Administrative data
- Endpoint:
- toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 05-1989
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: Non GLP no reference substance and no analysis. However the test is well documented and the guideline was valid at that time. The data provided and the study design is enough to consider K2 as reliability.

Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- not specified
- Conclusions:
- Study is valid however concentration is based on nominal. no reference substance is used so the control cannot be done. Therefore the use of this study is limited when applying it in a riskassessment
- Executive summary:
An algal essay was performed according to the DIN 38412/9 Guideline with 2 -chloroethanol. The study design was static with 72h exposure. No reference substance was used. pH varied between 8.3 -9.2 and this range is acceptable especially in an algal essay. the EC10 for growth rate is to be sued when applying the result in a riskassessment and was determined via statistical extrapolation to be 0.95 mg/L of nominal test substance concentration.
