It is impossible to carry out a local lymph node assay as the test article is not retained on the ear. Exposures to similar materials are ubiquitous in the environment and food stuffs and there are no case reports of sensitization, annex XI waiver. The major manufacturers of other fibres have found no evidience of skin sensitisation in studies carried out on workers.

No sensitising effects observed in animal tests for respiratory or skin sensitisation, extensive health surveillance covering the major manufacturers of other mineral fibres in the EU show no evidence of sensitisation.
