Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

As stated in the reference (Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, Annex A.14, § 1.1) “the tests need not to be performed when available thermodynamic information (e.g. heat of formation, heat of decomposition) and/or absence of certain reactive groups in the structural formula estab-lishes beyond reasonable doubt that the substance is incapable of rapid decomposition with evolu-tion of gases or release of heat (i.e. the material does not present any risk of explosion).”

1. The determination of the thermal stability of the test substance by DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) - Figure 1 showed that between 30°C and 400°C the exothermal decomposition en-ergy is about -595 kJ/kg and therefore slightly above the limit of -500 kJ/kg for exclusion given in the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 De-cember 2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, Chapter 2.1.4.3. (c).

2. According to the chemical structure and the list of reactive groups that could have explosive properties (Bretherick’s Handbook of Reactive Chemical Hazards, Butterworths, 4th edition) it can be excluded that APRC 5 has explosive properties.
