The melting range of benzoic acid was determined to be 122oC to 124oC which is within acceptable range of 121oC to 124oC, thus the apparatus was considered suitable for use.
A colour change, from light-brown to dark-brown,was noted ca.275oC. Report also lists melting point in Kelvin as 603.15K to 606.65K.

102. It was determined that the melting range for the compound 202723 was 603.1K to 606.65K.
Compound 202723 is a light brown powder at ambient room temperature. Ac hange in appearance from a light brown powder to a dark brown powder was observed at 548.15K
