Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Experimental data on the acute toxicity of Fatty alcohols C8-10, ethoxylated < 2.5 EO (CAS 71060-57-6) are not available. The assessment of the short-term toxicity to fish is therefore based on data available for a structual similar AE substance (C12, 4 EO, CAS 9002 -92 -0).

The available study was conducted according to EU Method C.1 and GLP using a semi-static test design. Common Carp were exposed to nominal test substance concentrations of 1.0, 1.7, 3.0, 5.0 and 9.0 mg/L for 96 hours. The test concentrations were renewed daily. The test substance concentrations were analytically verified by TOC analysis at 24, 48 and 72 h. The recovery rate was >80%. At test termination a LC50 (96 h) of 1.2 mg/L (nominal) was determined.

The assessment is based on the data currently available. New studies, based on the category review and the final decisions issued for some of the category substances, which are also relevant for this assessment, are currently being conducted. The finalised studies will be incorporated into the dossiers and the aquatic toxicity will be re-assessed in the updated dossiers by the 20thof June 2022.
