Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Conclusion on classification

Classification related key information based category read-across

Biodegradation in water: Readily biodegradable (>= 60 - 100 in 28 days)

Bioaccumulation: Alcohol ethoxylates are not expected to bioaccumulate due to a rapid biotransformation and excretion.

Acute toxicity:

- to fish: LC50 (72h): 1.2 mg/L (nominal)

- to aquatic invertebrates: EC50 (48h) = 40 mg/L (nominal)

- to Algae: ErC50 (72h) = 14 mg/L (geom. mean measured)

Chronic toxicity:

- to fish: no data available

- to aquatic invertebrates: no data available

- to Algae: ErC10 (72h) = 5.9 mg/L (geom. mean measured)

Classification justification according to CLP

Based on the data above, the substance is considered to be rapidly biodegradable and to have a low potential for bioaccumulation. The available acute aquatic toxicity effect concentrations > 1 mg/L (category read-across). The available long-term effect value is >1 mg/L (category read-across). Therefore, the substances is not classified and labelled for environmental hazards according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (date: 01.01.2017) and further amendments (ATPs).

New studies, based on the category review and the final decisions issued for some of the category substances, which are also relevant for this assessment, are currently being conducted. The finalised studies will be incorporated into the dossiers and the aquatic toxicity will be re-assessed in the updated dossiers by the 20thof June 2022.
