Specific details on test material used for the study:
Physical Description: Light orange liquid
Purity/Composition: UVCB
Storage Conditions: At room temperature protected from light
Purity/Composition correction factor: No correction factor required
Test item handling: Use amber glassware or wrap container in aluminum foil
Chemical name: 2,2-bis[({3-[methyl(phenyl)amino]propanoyl}oxy)methyl]butyl 3-[methyl(phenyl)amino]propanoate
Surface tension:
68.43 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
90 other: % test item saturation solublity

The results of the test on the determination of the surface tension of the test solution are given in the table below. The individual measurements were obtained with a coefficient of variation of < 0.2 mN/m.

Surface Tension of the Test Item

Measurement Time passed after measurement start Surface tension
(mN/m)
[seconds] individual σ multiplied by mean σ
Harkins-Jordan corrected value
1 41 68.89 68.43
2 67 68.61
3 94 68.48
4 120 68.42
5 148 68.33
6 175 68.28

Mean calculated from measurements 2 to 6, after equilibrium was reached.

Conclusions:
The OECD harmonized ring method was applied for the determination of the surface tension of the test item.
The surface tension of a test solution at 90% of the test item saturation solubility in water and at 20°C was 68.43 mN/m. Because the surface tension was ≥ 60 mN/m, the test item is considered not to be surface active.
Executive summary:
Information Guideline(s) Result Comment
Surface tension EC A.5 68.43 mN/m at 20°C by the harmonized ring method
OECD 115 (not surface active)
