Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Executive summary:

Purpose

The purpose of this assay was to identify the biodegradation potential of the registered substance in aquatic environments to provide a rational basis for environmental fate estimation for the test item.

Study Design

The test item was investigated for its ready biodegradability in a MITI test over a period of 28 days (OECD Guideline 301C, GLP). The biodegradation was followed by the oxygen uptake of the microorganisms during exposure. As a reference item Aniline was tested simultaneously under the same conditions as the test item, and functioned as a procedure control.

Result

Biodegradation of the test material:

After correction of the mean biochemical oxygen demand of the inoculum controls at the end of the 28-day exposure period, degradation rates of 2 % and 3 % were found.

Biodegradation of Aniline

The reference item Aniline was sufficiently degraded to 77 % after 21 days and thereafter, thus confirming the suitability of the used activated sludge inoculum.

Conclusion

The test material was found to be not ready biodegradable under the test conditions within 28 days.

Description of key information

Key, 28 d, OECD 301C, GLP: not ready biodegradable
