Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test item is considered to be not readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Assessment of target substance

In a manometric respiratory test according to OECD 301F (2018), 23% of the test substance (mean value) was degraded after 28d. In conclusion, the substance is not readily biodegradable.

According to a calculation using OASIS catalogic v.5.12.1, 1M parent compound results in the formation of 41.6% Metilox acid (CAS: 20170 -32 -5) within 28 days under the test conditions of an OECD 301C test, and by thereby supporting the observation of the OECD 308 test.

Supporting assessment with similar source substance (EC 406-040-9)

The substance is not readily biodegradable as established in an OECD 301B test (CIBA 1989). Nonylphenol was used as vehicle.

Supporting assessment of the major degradation product 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid (CAS 20170 -32 -5)

This metabolite is not readily biodegradable in the Modified Sturm test with 3-7% degradation at 10.3 and 20.3 mg/L.
