Description of key information

Seedling Emergence Limit Test For Non Target Plants Following A Single Rate Application With Soil Incorporation of FR-370
Seedling Emergence Dose Response Test for Non Target Plants Following A Multiple Dose Application with Soil Incorporation of FR-370

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for terrestrial plants:
55.3 mg/kg soil dw
Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for terrestrial plants:
0.1 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

The limit test was conducted with one test concentration of 1000mg FR-370/kgdw soil. Phytotoxic effects were noted in some of the species after seedling growing. FR-370 had no effects on the seedling emergence of tested species. However, FR-370 caused chlorosis in Beta vulgaris, Brassica napus, Cucumis sativus and Pisum safivum. FR-370 was found to reduce shoot weight of Allium cepa, Avena sativa and Beta vulgaris. The most sensitive species was Beta vulgaris, with an inhibition of 63 %.

Further to the effects noted in the limit test, the multiple dose-application test was conducted, using 0.1. 0.33, 1, 3.33,10,33.33, 100,333.33, 1000mg/kg oven-dried soil of FR-370. The most sensitive species was Allium cepa, with an EC50 of 55.33 mg/kg dry soil and NOEC< 0.1 mg/kg dw soil. However, the effects observed on A. cepa did not show a concentration-response curve. Actually, the precentage of inhibition at 0.1 mg/kg was comparable to that found at the highest test concentration. In addition, for some other species (i.e B.napus and P. sativum) the same precentage of inhibition was found in the carrier control. For Brassica napus, and Cucumis sativusthe NOEC values for biomass (fresh weight) were 3.33 mg/kg and EC50 values were 118.96 and 132.44 respectively.
