Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From: 03/08/2009 To: 06/10/2009
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The average heating rate over the entire temperature range was 0.5°C/min, but the heating rate was not constant 0.5°C/min. There was no effect on the study as no self-ignition occurred.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Relative self-ignition temperature:
> 400 °C
Remarks on result:

Remarks:
at atm. press. of ca.101.325 kPa

Using a linear increase in temperature of about 0.5°C/min up to 400°C, the test item Potassium pentahydrogen bis(phosphate) showed no self-ignition reaction. At the end of the experiment the test item was liquid.

Conclusions:
The test item potassium pentahydrogen bis(phosphate) is considered not to be auto-flammable, according to the criteria as described in the guideline. This study is conducted according to an appropriate guideline and under the conditions of GLP and therefore the study is considered to be acceptable and to adequately satisfy both the guideline requirement and the regulatory requirement as a key study for this endpoint.

Description of key information

One key study is available. Study was performed in accordance with EU Method A.16 and under the conditions of GLP.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test item potassium pentahydrogen bis(phosphate) is considered not to be auto-flammable, according to the criteria as described in the guideline. No classification is required in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (EU CLP).
