Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on a read-across with Trifluoroacetic acid, sodium salt (NaTFA), isopropyl trifluoroacetate is considered harmful to aquatic algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
8.5 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.2 mg/L

Additional information

No data on the toxicity to aquatic algae is available for isopropyl trifluoroacetate. However, two reliable key studies are available for sodium trifluoroacetate (TFANa) which is used in a read-across approach (see the endpoint study record 'target_short term toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria'). The EC50 is calculated as the geometric mean of the results of the two key studies performed on the most sensitive species of algae. Based on the results obtained with TFANa, isopropyl trifluoroacetate is considered harmful to aquatic algae
