Observed flash point: 78.0°C (at 98.4kPa).

Corrected flash point = 78,7°C.

The flash point of the test item has been determined to be 79 ± 2 °C.

For further information please see the experimental report.

Interpretation of results:
Category 4 (combustible liquids) based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The flash point of the test item has been determined to be 79°C.
The flash point of test substance is above the classification threshold of 60°C of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP criteria). Therefore the test substance is NOT classified as a flammable liquid based on the CLP criteria.
However, the flash point of test substance is below the classification threshold of 93°C (GHS criteria). Therefore the test substance is Classified as COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID Cat. 4 based on the GHS criteria.
Executive summary:

The flash point of the test substance was determined under GLP according toEU Method A.9 (Flash-Point), using an equilibrium closed cup method (and ISO 3679 and ASTM D 3278).

An aliquot of the test item was transferred to the sample cup of the Setaflash tester. The sample was heated and equilibrated at set temperature. The test flame was introduced into the sample cup. Observations were made for ignition of the vapor. This was repeated until the lowest reproducible temperature at which a flash occurred, using a fresh sample, was determined.

Observed flash point: 78.0°C

Atmospheric pressure: 98.4 kPa

Corrected flash point: 78.7°C

The flash point of the test item has been determined to be 79 ± 2 °C.

The flash point of the test item has been determined to be 79 ± 2 °C.

Description of key information

The substance is NOT classified as a flammable liquid according to Regulation (EC) N°1272/2008 (CLP criteria) and is classified as a FLAMMABLE LIQUID Category 4 according to UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS criteria).

Note that the result obtained on this kind of substance should be largely influence by small amounts of volatile constituents and the result doesn't represent the major part of the substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
79 °C

Additional information

A GLP fully reliable experimental study, conducted according to recognised ISO/ASTM/EC method (closed cup equilibrium method) is available. It is considered as a key study. The result is retained as key data.

This study is relevant for the classification regarding flammable properties.
