Description of key information

Appearance / physical state / colour:

On the basis of observation, the test chemical was observed to be odourless red powder.

Melting point/freezing point:

Based on the prediction done using the EPI Suite MPVPBP V1.43, the melting point of chemical was estimated to be 319.08˚C.

Boiling point:

Based on prediction done using MPBPVP v1.43, the Boiling point of test chemical was estimated to be 727.96 ˚C

Density:

Based on prediction done using ACD/I-Lab 2.0, the density of chemical was estimated to be 2.60 ± 0.1 g/cm3

Particle size distribution (granulometry):

The particle size distribution of test substance was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 150 micron to 25 micron.

Vapour pressure:

Modified Grain method (Mean of Antoine and Modified Grain methods) was used to estimate the vapour pressure of the test substance using MPBPVP v1.43 of EPI SUITE. Hence the estimated vapour pressure of the test substance at 25°C was 4.49E-018 Pa.

Partition coefficient:

The octanol water partition coefficient of test chemical was predicted to be 9.49 according to which the chemical was considered to be hydrophobic in nature.

Water solubility:

Based on the estimation done using WSKOW v1.42 the water solubility of the test chemical was estimated to be 2.178e-008 mg/L.

Based on the above estimated value, the test substance was observed to be insoluble in water.

Surface tension:

The study does not need to be conducted because water solubility of test substance is below 1mg/L at 20°C

Flash point:

The study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids.

Auto-flammability:

Test substance did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that the test substance is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

The test chemical does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having high temperature was brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that test chemical is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus the test substance was considered non-flammable.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Oxidising properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
